Maschine Mikro, Ultrabeat, Drummer, Superior Drummer 3, DrumLab
When it comes to making drum beats, or loops, Logic's Ultrabeat is capable of creating any kind of rhythmic pattern you can think of with any kind of sample or sound. Logic's Drummer is like having a live drummer on demand, 33 different drummers actually, capable of playing any genre, ready to play whatever you want.
In addition to these Logic features, Superior Drummer 3 is another game changer, offering an endless supply of drum patterns and drum kits for every style of music. I also use the Native Instruments Maschine Mikro, which is a powerhouse beat making tool in its own right, as well as being jam packed with awesome drum sounds and instrument samples. DrumLab is another component of NI's Komplete 12 software that contains monster sounding drum kits and drum patterns.
Last but not least, I keep an Alesis DM8 PRO electronic drum kit in the studio for live drummers. Numerous session drummers have slammed out beats on this kit and not a one of them has ever said that it didnt feel like a real kit. The flexibility of being able to load up any kind of drum kit for live drummers or to program any kind of rhythm makes it easy to find “your beat.”
Logic Pro X, EZ BASS, EZ KEYS
Logic Pro X contains numerous effects including compressors, reverb's, delay’s, eq’s, bass and guitar amplifiers and stomp boxes. On top of that their ESX and Alchemy samplers are world class. When used in combination with Universal Audio and Waves plugins, Native Instruments Komplete library, EZ Bass and EZ Keys--the sonic possibilities are endless.
I'm often asked to remix a project and replace drums that were poorly recorded. Logic's software makes drum replacement easy. I can also import stems from any other DAW or project for mixing or sweetening. Music Memos and GarageBand sessions also load right up in LPX.
All of these features make it easy to find “your sound.”
